Hello, my name is

Tessa Nogatz

I'm an Applied Mathematician from Neustadt

I am located in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. I am an expert in mathematical image processing and on how to use images to learn more about complex materials.

I currently work on motion estimation from timeseries of 3D images. My focus is on the applicability to large datasets of several hundreds of GB and on application to sparse and discontinuous materials.

What I Do

my Activities and Interests
Research
My research focuses on image processing for materials science. In my PhD, I investigated motion estimation for in situ material tests. Since recently, I focus on deducing materials laws from image based data. I have a diverse background in mathematics, ranging from inverse problems over partial differential equations and variational methods to differential geometry. As I always focused on applied mathematics, I have rich experience in implementing solution algorithms for manifold problems in mathematics.
My Papers
Development

Working with 3D images requires out-of-the-box solution algorithms. In my PhD, I mainly worked with Matlab and C++. Most of my experience in other programming languages stems from my rich experience as a working student.

Training
During my time as a PhD and PostDoc I was also involved in several teaching activites. I organized and held exercises in basic courses on stochastics, regression and time series analysis and on higher mathematics for engineers.
I have shared my research results on several occasions with various communities. I attended conferences on mathematics, computed tomography ad experimental mechanics. Some of my talks can be found here.
